Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, in small communities, I’ve seen the power of supporting and businesses helping one another. My grandfather started and ran a successful firm for many years, and his success was a result of dedication to simple morals, and simple business values. Helping him in the office as a child, and quickly fell in love with how much is out there to be learned, and how fascinating the business world can be when you’re in it for the right reasons instead of just to get what you want.
Throughout my life, I’ve struggled with poor nutrition, unhealthy addiction to foods and using eating as a distraction from my emotions and big decisions needing to be dealt with. I remember taking a photo in 2007 and literally not recognizing it was me, because my shape and face had morphed into someone I heavier than what I thought I was. In May 2017 I finally broke free of the yo-yo diets to feel more in control of my nutrition and health. I started my Blog and supporting channels to learn and share what I’ve learned from along the way in my fitness journey. There are just so many products out there especially for the health and fitness industry, and it can be overwhelming!
My TravelingKetoCat mission is to share and support others along their fitness journey through unbiased product reviews so that keto and fitness folks can feel less overwhelmed with all the choices. I aim to provide a simplified approach by sharing my mistakes and joys to drop more inches and become a better athlete along the way.
I follow these same rules in my blogging, partnerships, and hopefully, day-job:
- How does what I’m doing help the customer?
- How does this help me – does this fit into my strategic direction?
- Do I have anything nice to say about this person or product?
- Do I trust and align with this company’s values?
In 2002, I started traveling internationally and fell in love with transformative cuisine from around the world- this lead me to later start writing food reviews in 2008. 2010 I first became Yelp Elite, which has exposed me to some awesome places, people, and critical thinking about what and how I think about a meal. While I understand sites such as Yelp still receive scrutiny, I pride myself in writing fair reviews, reflecting a holistic experience.
I also review promotional campaigns through Influenster, Amazon, and Sephora, among others. I love working with low carb/keto and fitness clothing and products for businesses that align with my lifestyle and values.
Although I may at times receive items complimentary in exchange for a review, how I evaluated/decided on the product’s merit is completely my own doing. Sometimes I work with a brand that I can’t give a fully positive review to- but I am not a jerk about it, provide constructive reasons, and leave my feedback as just my own personal experience with the products. Either way, I enjoy trying new things, new workouts, and helping others shape their own health and fitness journey in a one-stop place based on category. I’ve included links when possible so an item can be quickly found and purchased.
I will be adding a “shop” section in Q4 2017, for quick access to discounted products I have partnered with, as an affiliate.
